Media Converter FAQ

Quick answers to common questions about EditCrafted's free online media converter.

What file types can I convert?

Currently supported conversions: MP4 → MP3, WAV → MP3, M4A → MP3, PNG → JPG, JPG → PNG, and WEBP → PNG. More may be added over time.

Can I convert video files?

You can extract MP3 audio from MP4 video. Video-to-video conversion is not currently supported. See the video converter page for details.

Can I convert audio files?

Yes — WAV → MP3 and M4A → MP3 are both supported. See the audio converter page.

Can I convert image files?

Yes — PNG ↔ JPG and WEBP → PNG. See the image converter page.

Is there a file size limit?

Yes, 100 MB per file.

Are uploaded files deleted?

Yes. Both the uploaded file and the converted file are stored in a temporary directory that is deleted right after the response is sent. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Why did my file fail to convert?

Common reasons: the file is over 100 MB, the file extension does not match the chosen conversion, the file is corrupt or contains unsupported data, or the server was already running another conversion. Wait a moment and try again.

Is there a quality loss when converting?

Some conversions are lossy (e.g. WAV → MP3, PNG → JPG) and some are lossless (e.g. JPG → PNG, WEBP → PNG decoded). For audio, our MP3 output uses sensible default quality settings that work for most podcasts, voice and music sharing. For lossless image targets, no visible quality is lost.

Can I use converted files on YouTube, TikTok or Instagram?

Yes. MP4 video, MP3 audio, JPG and PNG images are accepted by virtually every major platform.

How long does conversion take?

Most conversions finish in seconds. Large videos near the 100 MB limit can take longer. The server's hard timeout is 5 minutes.

Why am I seeing a "server is busy" message?

Only one conversion runs at a time on our server. If another conversion is already in progress, you'll briefly see a busy message — please try again in a moment.

What if a format I need isn't supported?

Tell us through the EditCrafted contact page — we use that input to decide which conversions to add next.

Is the converter really free?

Yes. It's free within the documented limits. The site is supported by Google AdSense ads.
