Why convert audio?
Smaller files
WAV is fantastic for editing because it's uncompressed, but a 5-minute recording can easily exceed 50 MB. MP3 at a sensible bitrate is usually around one-tenth the size, with quality that's perfectly fine for podcasts, voice notes and most music sharing.
Broader compatibility
Some apps, podcast hosts and cloud platforms accept only MP3. Converting up front avoids upload errors later.
Easier sharing
MP3 plays on every desktop, phone and browser without extra software. It's the simplest format to send to clients, students or fans.
